Design Team reveal!

Good Monday morning everyone. Hope everyone's week is off to a good start. Last week was reveal day over on the Let's Scrap Design Team. Our challenge was to use only patterned paper and no plain cardstock. That was a tough on for me but I ended up buying a paper pack at Archivers a couple of weeks ago that ended up working perfectly! Here is my layout for this month. Hope you like it!

Hello, sorry I have not been on the ball at all with keeping up with this blog! Time just seems to slip by and I have gotten caught up with other things and forgotten to update my blog. Here is some of the pages that I have gotten done lately:

These first 2 are pages that I did while we were in Arizona and went scrapping. They are from our trip to AZ the previous year (in 2008). I really loved how the ribbon one turned out. I had gotten the idea from a page that I saw in an Archivers newsletter.

This one is from Easter this year. We went to an Easter Egg hunt that the city put on. The kids really had a lot of fun at the egg hunt.

Lili just had the cutest expressions after we got done dying the eggs this year. You can't really tell in the picture on the blog but she had gotten a butterfly painted on her cheek when were at the egg hunt.

Time for a blast from the past! Mason is now 4 1/2 yrs old. I had recently taken out some old pictures from some frames and thought I should scrap them. I like how this one turned out.

This layout was pretty simple because the flowers on the side of the page were already there! This one was quick and easy!

This layout was my Design Team layout for Let's Scrap for the month of April. We had gone to the pumpkin patch last fall and there was a train to ride there. Mason loved riding the train!

Arizona!

We just got back, last week, from our trip to Arizona! We go there every year for a vacation with my family. We always go in early spring sometime but I think this was the earliest that we have ever gone. We didn't have bad weather but it wasn't the best either. I really can't complain because we have been so spoiled every other year we have gone with really warm weather. We all had a really great time while we were down there. We swam a couple of times (a little cool for it but the heated pool helped), the guys went golfing, took the kids to the putting course, they boys went to a spring training game, went to a train park, and gosh I am sure there is more that we did!

The guys always seem to have lots on their plates to do when we go but the girls don't have anything so last year we decided to go scrapping one night! We did it again this year. We had a lot of fun and I actually got a lot done! Last year I scrapped the AZ pictures from the previous year so this year I did the same. I scrapped the AZ pictures from last year. I know I am a slacker but I guess it is inspirational scrapping what we did in AZ while we are in AZ! LOL I also was just amazed at how much my kids changed in 1 year! I tried to go with a plan this year and it really paid off. From 6pm to midnight I think I got 6 pages done (well almost done)! I just have to add a few finishing touches still. I will post some of them hopefully tomorrow.

I love to scrap but one of my other hobbies is crocheting. I am not the best crocheter and I usually pick easy things to do but I really enjoy it. Our blankets in our living room were starting to look a little shabby so I decided to make a new blanket! I found a really cute blanket to make on the Lion Brand website. The pattern was really easy but it was just so fun and colorful. I have been working on it off and on for the past few weeks and finally finished it today! Let me know what you think. Here it is:

February Design Team Challenge

Here is the design team challenge for this month. Our challenge this month was to use a black and white picture on our layout. I also tried a few new things along with this layout. I have never embraced chipboard much but I finally found some swirly chipboard shapes that I loved so I painted that with acrylic paint. I also was watching a scrapbook show on HGTV and saw these awesome ribbon flowers and thought I should try that out on my layout. I don't know if my paper was not the best for this or if I had the wrong ribbon or what it was but I was bound and determined to get some ribbon flowers. I ended up Googling scrapbook ribbon flowers and found a youtube clip. This lady used a little different technique so I tried it and it worked much better for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9P4bfuAHPQ. I ended up using 1 flower from the scrapbook show on HGTV and the flower from the youtube video to finish my layout. I thought they turned out pretty good for my first ribbon flowers! Hope everyone had a good Valentines weekend! We didn't do much at our house. We have had the stomach bug in our house for the past week so we were not quite sure how everyone was going to feel on Saturday. Luckily we were all OK on Saturday so we just ran some errands. Nothing to exciting for us this year.
Well, I have still been a huge slacker on keeping up with my blog so I am going to bombard you with new stuff! LOL I finally learned how to change my background to a fun background but then it messed up all my gadgets for some reason. I finally got it all figured out (I hope).
First off, here are some pages that I did when a friend and I went to a crop (this was actually back in like November! I guess I forgot to put them on the blog).
The first 2 are from last year's 4th of July (as if you couldn't guess that youselves! LOL)

This one is from when we went apple picking last September! We had never been apple picking before and it was a lot of fun!

This next one is an old picture. It was just sitting in a frame behind the one that we were currently looking. I thought it was silly to hide them in the frame so I am hoping to scrap several more like this one. Time to get the pictures out of hiding! LOL

In January the design team I am on had an altered item challenge. I was racking my brain for what I could alter. Finally I went down into the basement and started looking through all the stuff we had in our garage sale pile. I ended up finding this mail organizer thing and thought it would be great for holding pictures that I want to scrap! Here is the before and after.

Are you starting to feel bombarded yet???? LOL
Here is one of Mason from when we went to this fun place in town called Paradise Park. The kids really love playing there and Mason's favorite part is the ball pit. And then I finally got Mason's first day of preschool page done also!

Hope everyone's holidays were fun and safe. We spent the holidays in Omaha for the most part with both sides of our families. Now that the new year has started it is time for those dreaded resolutions! I try not to make any hard core or unattainable resolutions but I did make a couple. I, like most other people, want to lose some weight! Seems like this past holiday season I ate WAY to many sweets. I also want to get exercising more!!!! My only other resolution it to get back into scrapping more! I have been slacking so much lately and I miss it so hopefully I can get myself back into gear!

Oh man! I have been a huge slacker lately with my blog! I am going to try to get back on the bandwagon!
I was choosen by a friend to be on her design team (click to see the blog) a few months ago. The group is called Let's Scrap (click to go to the site) and it is a great bunch of ladies who love to scrap! So every month we are given a challenge on the design team and we all create our take on a layout of a card or scrapbook page.

I finally got around to scrapping a page from the kids' b-day party. I have a lot more to do but this is a start right? LOL I got this stitching template a few months ago and used it for the first time on the cupcake! I really like the way it turned out. The stitching adds a fun embellishment to the page! The cake is inspired by Minnie Mouse and the book Pinkalicious (which Lili loves). So, I wanted to make sure I spelled Pinkalicious right so I looked it up real quick on the net. Well I found a whole website for the book! It had a lot of party planning ideas to throw your own Pinkalicious party. I wish I had know about that site before the party! LOL Let me know what you think of the scrapbook page!

Birthday parties!!!

We had both Mason and Lili's b-day parties this past weekend! It was a lot of fun! I think the kids both had a great time. The theme for their party was Mickey and Minnie Mouse. They both really love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse so I thought it would be a great idea. We just had the party at our house and had some friends and family over. I think Mason's favorite gift was...... all of them! LOL He really loves his new scooter and the cars things he got. It was so funny watching Mason open his presents because he just tore through ALL of them! LOL He looked like he could cry when we told him that he didn't have anymore to open! Lili was kind of tired by the time we got to opening presents. She opened hers slow but she loved everything she got also. She especially loves this little dog stuffed animal. She carries it around with her everywhere! We really had a great time and want to thank everyone who came! Here are some pictures from the party:

Here are their cakes. Mason's is Mickey. I did a frozen buttercream transfer with his cake. It was fun to try out and actually pretty easy. Lili's cake is a Minnie inspired giant cupcake! It is also inspired by the book Pinkalicious (cute book, and one of Lili's favorite books).

Apple picking!

Yesterday we went with my friend Julie and her family to go and pick apples in Weston, MO. We had a blast! I don't think I have ever been apple picking before so it was all new to me. Both of the kids really liked picking the apples and Lili even tried the apples while we were picking! Mason enjoyed picking the apples but not eating them so much. He did try some apple cider donuts though for the first time! Of course we have always told him that he would like donuts but he didn't believe us till yesterday! LOL After we were done apple picking we headed over to another farm that had a little bit of everything. It was beautiful there! They had the pumpkins lined up and ready to take home. They also had watermellon, beautiful mums, corn, apples, peaches, and lots of farm animals. The kids loved it there as well. Here are some pictures from our outing yesterday:

I can't wait to scrapbook these pictures! I think they will look great! So, I got to thinking, what am I going to do with all of these apples!!!! The search was on for some apple recipes. I had just gotten my latest issue of my Rachael Ray magazine that has several apple recipes in it. I also found some others in some of my cookbooks. It got me thinking that I should make a book full of all of my apple recipes! My friend Julie had told me about smilebox and how she was pooling her apple recipes on there so I thought I would do the same! Here is one of the recipes that I found in the Rachael Ray magazine:

A night out!!!

Tonight a friend and I went to check out a scrapbook store not to far from us. They had a Friday night crop night so we went to that. Unfortunately we couldn't stay for the whole evening but I still was able to get a couple of pages done! It has been a long time since I had a girls night out! It was nice to get together with her without our kids for once! I was so excited to try out this local store! I am always looking for some new and different things that I can't get and my normal big box stores. I did get 1 whole page done tonight and the other still needs some tweaking. This one was a challenge from the Let's Scrap Design Team blog:

I am also part of a great group on cafemom.com called Let's Scrap. This group is run by the same great ladies who are part of the design team listed above. A couple of times a week or so they have sketch challenges for us to try out. I did one yesterday and here is what I came up with! Hope you like it! I thought it came out great!

Oh, just one more thing not scrap related but pretty cool. This morning it was pretty foggy out and I went out onto the deck and this is what I saw:
I am not a fan of spiders but this was pretty cool to see an almost perfect spider web all covered in dew!

Hi everyone! I have taken the plunge into blogging! LOL I thought it would be a great way to let you know what is going on in my life and to show off my scrapbook pages!
Yesterday it rained all day and it is finally starting to let up today. We really needed the rain so I am not going to complain at all. I was able to get a little scrapping done yesterday. I tried out a new card! I thought it turned out really cute! I got the idea from this blog. I think I am going to make a few more of these so I have some in reserves for when I need them.

Other than that I am just trying to get ready for the kids' b-day party in just over a week! I think I am going to give the cakes a test drive today or tomorrow before I make their real cakes. I hope they turn out ok!
